Allgäuer Brennerei
Artisan distillery from Sulzberg, in the Allgäu (Bavarian Alps).
Au Bavarois is the only establishment in France to offer this distillery.
Origin: Sulzberg (87477), Allgäu, Bavaria. Artisan production ("hausgemacht").
The house, since 1914
Four generations have run this family business, from Kempten to Sulzberg.
- 1914 — Alfons Fischer registers a pressing and spirits workshop in Kempten.
- 1946 — His son-in-law Kurt Günther takes over the cellar.
- 1966 — Purchase of land in Waltenhofen.
- 1972 — The Kempten cellar is sold and operations move to Waltenhofen. Eau-de-vie production expands.
- Today — Stephan Günther, certified master distiller, runs the house with his wife Barbara. Seven employees, in Sulzberg.
The distillery is regularly awarded at the DLG competition, run by the German Agricultural Society.
